Emergency Use Section 18 Granted for Quadris
Fungicide
Effective July 25, 1997 through October 15, 1997, the Department of
Pesticide Regulation authorized the emergency use of Quadris flowable fungicide
for the control of rice blast (pyricularia grisea). Quadris may
be used on rice in Butte, Colusa, Fresno, Glenn, Merced, Placer, Sacramento,
San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Yolo, and Yuba counties. Quadris
(azoxystrobin) is manufactured by Zeneca.
Frequency of Application
Quadris must be used as a preventative treatment for blast control.
Two applications to a field are permitted during the growing season. First
application should be made in the interval from mid-boot to
boot split, and prior to full head emergence. Second
application should be made when 60 to 90% of the heads are emerged
from the boot. This is roughly 7 to 14 days after the first application.
Application Rate
Follow the label
instructions. Apply 12.3 to 18.5 fluid ounces of Quadris (0.2 to 0.3 active
ingredient) per acre, but no more than 37 fluid ounces of Quadris per acre
per year.
Dilution Rate
Apply by ground or
air. Air: Apply in 5 to 10 gallons of water. Ground: Apply using a minimum
of 20 gallons of water per acre. Questions concerning such things as permissible
weather conditions and nozzle configurations should be directed to the
Agricultural Commissioner's Office.
Reentry Interval is 12 hours.
Preharvest Interval is 28 days.
Water Holding Period is 15 days.
Permits
Application permits must
be secured through the Butte County Agricultural Commissioner's Office
