This guide can be used in the following ways:
- To identify commonly occurring weeds, look at the leaf venation. If the veins are parallel, check the weed list under Grasses, sedges, and cattails. Otherwise, go to the Broadleaves and algae list. Selecting a weed will link you to its description and one or more photos.
- From each weed description there is a link to one of two herbicide efficacy tables (select herbicide) from the management section. The tables list the currently registered herbicides, a "weight," that is, a rating of importance of controlling this weed from a standpoint of potential yield reduction, and an efficacy rating.
- The herbicide efficacy table contains a link to label information for each pesticide. This is a guide to usage. Since this information can change frequently, the label on the product in hand is the legal document that will be enforced. Pesticide related questions should be addressed to your county Agricultural Commissioner or to the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.
